This 1972 Lotus Europa is up for sale by a Victorian friend of the club.
The Europa was sold new in California in 1972. It was Pistachio Lime Green and featured a Federal twin-cam engine and standard four-speed gearbox.
Its original owner kept it for some time in the United States before bringing it to Sydney. Once in Sydney it was converted to right-hand drive and had a big valve head with d-type cams and Dellortos fitted.
It was sold in 1981 to Barry Cruchley, who spent seven years giving it a full rebuild. During the restoration it was repainted in Qantas Red and the Dellortos were replaced with Weber 42 DCOEs.
The current owner bought it in 1988 and restored the motor between 1990 and 1993.
Today it’s well-restored and presents and drives beautifully. It will be sold with a history file and workshop manual. It’s currently on a club permit, so registration is not transferrable.
