Event Details

The 2017 Lotus Elite Diamond Jubilee will be the biggest Lotus birthday party the Club has ever held.

The three-day event will include a sprint meeting at Sydney Motorsport Park on Saturday followed by a celebration dinner on Saturday evening, the Diamond Jubilee itself on Sunday and a Lotus-Only Track Day at Wakefield Park on Monday.

The CSCA sprint meeting will offer a great opportunity to tackle Sydney Motorsport Park at speed, and all that is required is a level 2S CAMS licence. Those wanting to participate in the Sprint Meeting on Saturday 12th need to contact Mike Basquil on (02) 9533 2140 or mbasquil@clublotus.com.au.

Bookings for the Lotus-Only Track Day can be made via Simply Sports Cars’ website here. And to see how it all works, head to this page on their site.

The dinner on Saturday evening is the big celebratory function of the event, and will be attended by luminaries of the era from Australia, New Zealand and the United States. It’s sure to be a fun evening, interspersed with anecdotes and interruptions from those who were involved in period.

Sunday’s gathering and photo opportunity will be held at the circuit in our specially-allocated LOTUS LAND, which encompasses the pit area and garage of the ‘Amaroo’ section of Sydney Motorsport Park.

The Elites will feature in this area, in chassis number order, but the area is large enough for all Club members to attending and a large turn-out of all models is expected. Lotus Australia distributors Simply Sports Cars are also expected to join us with a selection of new Lotuses, completing an amazing display of the Lotus marque!

At lunch we will be allocated laps of the full circuit, with passengers, behind a pace car. For experienced drivers an opportunity to join the last session on Sunday with the high-speed run by HSRCA members may be included.

Sunday will also present a magnificent photo opportunity and festivities will include a picnic lunch.

This year is also the 60th anniversary of the Seven and the 50th of the Type 49 Formula 1 car, the Elan +2 and the Type 51 Formula Ford. July 1967 was the first all Formula Ford race – Lotus captured the top seven places. So there is a lot to celebrate!
