August already, and with a following breeze, the run to the summer has begun.. Which is probably me being a little optimistic but I am a bit over winter.

Having said that, the last few months have been a lot of fun running the Elite in a series of three quite different events, but they all had one thing in common – the Elite is a beautiful car to race.

Speaking of which, this weekend kicks off a series of fun events, with the back to back CLA CSCA supersprint on Saturday and the Shannons Classic on Sunday. I hope to see lots of you out there on one of the two days, if not both.

That is followed shortly by the celebration dinner for 100 years of Maroubra Speedway. The event is organised by our lovely friend Peter Eppel, and will be hosted in the splendid Royal Automobile Club. It will be a wonderful evening – and a great opportunity to dig out your spats!

We then have the All British Day out at the Hawkesbury Showgrounds, and with the current weather we are enjoying, it should be a lovely day – that’s on September 13th.

Then after one or two more sprints in October and November, and our now annual Fish and Chip Run on Sunday 11th October (put it in the diary, more details to follow!) all of a sudden it will be Christmas, and our AGM. As is tradition, we’ll hold them on the same day, currently slated for Sunday 6th December, possibly at the Royal Automobile Club again, unless someone comes up with a more imaginative alternative!

When Chunky’s arrives later in the month, you should find some musings on my slightly jaundiced view of what’s going on at Hethel, and lots of great reports from around the country. Thank you so much to all those who go to the trouble of submitting your writings, it is what keeps us alive and headed the right way.

And as a final jolt, I will be asking for an organising committee to help put together the biennials, which are next year. This was supposed to be Queensland’s turn, but they have had a couple of hard years and have understandably decided to pass this time. So, if you’d be willing to put some time into helping a few of us organise the next one, that’d be most kind (and very necessary, as so far it is me, myself, and I!)
