We’re Joining The Vintage Sports Car Club of Australia for their Cootamundra Sprints!

Cootamundra Sprints

The Vintage Sports Car Club of Australia has very kindly extended an invitation for Club Lotus to join in their Cootamundra Sprints this Saturday the 5th of September.

They’re waiving their usual 30-year-old minimum age requirement, and a brace of modern Morgans have already entered the event. Of course, there will be a stunning collection of vintage cars of all types present.

It’s the seventh running of the popular event, which offers a relaxed day of good old fashioned motorsport – one which they call a good day of mucking about with cars. Just our speed!

The event is held on the 1.5 kilometer long, 18-metre wide Cootamundra Airport runway. Two cars run safely side by side over a timed 400 metre stretch and both full speed timed acceleration sprints and regularity sprints will be held.

The sprints are run in an informal arrangement in which competitors are able to choose their running mate.

Entry is set at $90. Roll bars are not required and no other licensing is required. It is limited to 80 cars on a first in, first served basis.

Festivities around the sprints themselves include a Saturday night dinner at the Cootamundra Services Club, at $25 per head plus drinks. The annual Cootamundra Father’s Day Swap Meet is also held on Sunday and is a lot of fun.

Cootamundra is around four and a half hours from Sydney, and the drive there and back makes for a wonderful road trip – especially if you partake in some of the “back” route options.
