Ed Burton has organised a drive to Bowral and its surrounds for the weekend of the 20th & 21st of May, 2017, and it sounds absolutely brilliant! Read on for the details, and get in touch with Ed to let him know you’re interested.
Day/weekend drive to Bowral and surrounds 20 & 21 May 2017 (come for either day or stay overnight – your choice
OPTION 1 – Stay Saturday night at Pepper’s Craigieburn – Bowral
Meet Murray Lund (red Elise) at Loftus Oval carpark, Loftus for departure at 0745. Loftus Oval is on the east side of the Princes Highway, just north of the turn-off to Royal National Park. Route will be via Princes Highway, Macquarie Pass, Mt Murray and East Kangaloon.
OR you can “hook on” anywhere you like along the route.
10AM: Meet at the Shaggy Cow Café 112 Main Street Mittagong for breakfast/morning tea
Then onto The Old Magpie Café for about 12 o’clock. The Old Magpie Café is located on Old Hume Highway Berrima (yep that’s it! No street number – no web site!) – ph. 4877 2008 – it’s next door to the pub which is next door to the jail.
From there to Red Cow farm arriving at about 2PM: www.redcowfarm.com.au -7480 Illawarra Highway, Sutton Forest (OK guys, I know this is a garden to look at but we have to keep the women happy, besides there are some great roads to stretch your car’s legs on!).
From there it’s back to Peppers Craigieburn (Centennial Rd., Bowral) www.pepperscraigieburn.com.au where we check in and have afternoon tea (for those that want to or, in my case, a “happy hour” i.e. a Pa Pa nap.
This place is REALLY SPECIAL – lovely gardens, a pool and very upmarket. Dinner is booked for 7.00pm. On Sunday morning a smorgasbord breakfast (at a reasonable hour) will be held in the Conservatory.
I have arranged a bulk discount of $259 for a single or $279 for a twin/double including breakfast. Dinner is $60pp and is a “Hickory’s shared platter experience”, which sounds excellent. To get these special packages mention my name when you ring on 4862 8000.
We will then drive (Stagger?) to Eling Forest Winery 12587 Forest Rd., Sutton Forest www.elingforest.com.au to their café for a light lunch and round 3*.
FOR THE WIMPS THERE IS ALSO – OPTION 2 – This involves you joining our event on either day at any time BUT please let me know as I will need to book appropriate room sizes at the eating/visiting places.
So, let me make this clear: IF you can only make, say, Saturday day then you are most welcome, just let me know where you will meet us along our tour mentioned above and I will make the appropriate bookings. This should suit the wimps who can only make it for a morning, day or afternoon. Send me an email.
NOW THE FINE PRINT:
Bookings: If you are staying overnight – this is a “first in best dressed event”. I suggest you book accommodation directly through Pepper’s Craigieburn for Saturday 20 May 2017 and mention my name to get the special price 4862 8000 (Single $259, double $279 including breakfast). I will assume you will be coming to dinner on the Saturday night and will make appropriate arrangements.
Dress: Guys, I would expect the girls will dress up for the Saturday night dinner as it is very swanky so if you know what’s good for you, you will dress accordingly.
Children are welcome and I have cut a special deal from U Haul Trailers to hire a box trailer to put them in unless you are in an Evora. Of course, the” Lotus encyclopaedia” – Angus – is most welcome!
Well that’s the rap up for a very special day/weekend, should you require any further information about this weekend please call me direct on 0447 243 136 but it would be best to email me unless it’s an emergency.
