William Taylor to be Guest of Honour at CLA 50th Anniversary

Club Lotus Australia 50th Anniversary

As we rush ever closer to our 50th anniversary celebration of the club, we are pleased to announce that William Taylor, best known for ‘The Lotus File’ will be joining us as guest of honour, with the wonderful Graham Balfe doing us the honour of MCing the event.

Considered the definitive record of Lotus, ‘The Lotus File’ covers all of the cars produced by Lotus Cars and Team Lotus between 1948 and 2022, including the race machines and even extending to the soapboxes and bikes built by the marque. We are thrilled that William will be joining us from the UK and look forward to hearing him speak on the marque and making the most of the opportunity to spend some time together.

Graham Balfe is a long standing Lotus, and more broadly British, car fanatic, as well as being a close friend to the club and its members. He has kindly offered to MC the key events of the weekend, most notably our gala dinner on Saturday evening.

Even more importantly – you guys! We can’t celebrate 50 years of Club Lotus Australia without the club being present and we’d love to see as many of you there as possible, so please do join us for all, or part, of the weekend. Booking is via our membership system at this link:

Please also invite your friends and family, and make sure everyone in the Lotus community feels welcome! If you have any questions or would like to put someone in touch with us, email committee@clublotus.com.au. If you plan to book accommodation at the Fairmont Resort and would like to use our discount code for the event, please do so soon as discounted rooms are limited and only being held for the club for a limited time.

The theme of the event will be ‘Past, Present and Future’ and we hope to bring a wonderful collection of characters and cars out to the Blue Mountains to express a holistic view of Lotus and the club, reflecting on its history and heritage and also looking forward to its future.

On that note, we look forward to welcoming the Simply Sports Cars crew, who will help us represent the present and future of Lotus. We are working with them to bring the party atmosphere to Leura and greatly appreciate their involvement.

Held between Friday the 23rd of June and Sunday the 25th, the weekend will be based around Fairmont Resort in the Blue Mountains.

We’re keeping Friday evening casual, with informal drinks and a catch-up planned. On Saturday morning, we’ll hold a relaxed concours d’elegance in the morning, leaving the day open for a drive, exploring local attractions or checking out the Zig Zag Railway. The gala dinner is planned for the evening of Saturday the 24th, and we’ll wrap up on Sunday morning with a farewell breakfast and local adventuring at your leisure.

Outside of the big three events, we’ll be providing a ‘road book’ full of suggestions for drives and activities around the ‘Mountains, including a drive the interesting way to Bathurst and some shorter drives around the area such as Mt. Wilson and the Botanic Gardens, things to do in and around Leura, good food and coffee and other sites to explore around the area.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Leura June 23 – 25, 2023 to celebrate this momentous occasion in the club.
