Friend of the club Frank has a very special John Player Special model racing car radio and is seeking a new home for it. Read on for the details, and reach out to Frank via Seth at [email protected].
The model was made in Hong Kong and still has the original bubble wrap and cardboard box. I cleaned the dust from the model with a shaving brush. It is in pristine condition, and only been out of the box less than a dozen times.
It must be at least 55 years that l have had the model. I will throw in the little matchbox size model as well.
Dimensions and details are as follows:
- 250 mm length
- 150mm width
- AM radio (still works – 2 x AA batteries – a little scratchy in sound). No FM
- Tuning is in the drivers cockpit at rear near headrest
- On-Off volume is beneath the left front spoiler
While it works, I feel that it is more of a display model than a radio.
I’m in Western Australia but would make a wooden box to protect the contents if needed to be posted or shipped by private contractor.
