It is with a heavy heart (and light wallet) I announce my yellow (formerly racing green) K series S2 is now for sale.
Some of you guys already know the story. New fuel filter, lower fuel line not securely fastened – major fire in the engine bay. Fortunately, it was not insured so my understanding is that it has not been listed as a write off and can therefore be repaired. I am too old now and don’t have the faculty or facilities to rebuild it.
I believe that the rear clam is probably OK, but will need some repairs. The engine had a new head fitted a couple of years ago, with a new head gasket and was running OK except for a slight miss on acceleration. I found out later that this was most probably due to the muffler hangar having ripped out, leaving a large hole which could have caused the oxygen sensor to become polluted.
The muffler was fully repaired only a week before the incident. The roof was in the rear compartment and fits on OK. The alloys are actually off my new 2010 and are original Lotus. The rear tail lights are also off my 2010 and seem to have LEDs around the outside, in any case they look more modern. A few weeks earlier I had fitted new coil packs and spark plugs.
If I don’t get what I would consider to be a reasonable offer it may be necessary to sell it off for parts but I am hoping it wont come to this.
The list of extras are:
- Quick release Racetech steering wheel
- Corbeau drivers seat (I still have the original seat)
- Full carbon fibre interior including dash and door pulls
- Quantum one coil-overs
- New radiator was fitted at the time of the new head and all new silicon hoses
- High flow fuel pump (I know right!)
- The tyres are Dunlop Direzza? with about 95% tread
