1963 Lotus Super Seven

Club member Dario has his lovely 1963 Lotus Super Seven up for sale. Read on for the details.

1963 Lotus Super Seven

I am selling my 1963 Lotus Super Seven, which I imported from the UK in 2022. I have enjoyed it since then, but with four other cars I just am not using it enough to justify keeping it. Also, it doesn’t need any work and I like to tinker with my cars!

It was supplied from the factory as a fully assembled car with a 1500 Cosworth MK14 Kent engine and wobbly-web wheels, built in right-hand drive configuration for export to the USA and club raced from new in the US. The history file includes a number of photos and owners’ recollections from its time as a racing car.

The car was garaged in the 1970s, exhumed in the the 2010s and returned to the UK where it was restored over a period of years to original specification. The chassis was returned to Arch Motors, the original suppliers of chassis to Lotus Components, for restoration. During the very detailed restoration the original race scrutineering stickers were retained on the transmission tunnel.

The car was completed in 2021 and it has covered only a couple of hundred miles since then. The Lotus Historic Register has authenticated the car and described it as, “a fine example of the Lotus marque, and now looks exactly as it did when it left the factory in 1963”.

A very exciting jewel of a car! Asking $75,000.
