I’m back, and right back into things.
First up, we had a committee meeting last weekend to confirm our plans for the last few months of this year, including:
Further out, we are starting to plan the Lotus 2021 event. As many of you will know, the plan is to spend a week in Tasmania, enjoying the great food, amazing wines and, of course, the phenomenal roads. So much so that we have adopted the strapline for the event “The roads are the track”.
The plan is to be in Tasmania in the last week of February of 2021, and we will be sending out an expression of interest to see how many we might expect to join us. Watch this space!
Chez Roskill, the garage, is about to have a shuffle. The Eleven has to go off to Adam Doyle Smith in Queensland to repair the damage done en-route to Lotus 2019. The Elite is due to return in time for the HSRCA Spring Festival at the end of September, and Gidget comes off the boat next weekend and most likely comes home as soon as Giles can get her out of the port. So, there may be some congestion while I get them sorted out 🙂
Above and below you’ll see my favourite two photos from the Peking to Paris rally (courtesy of Gerard Brown). One from Mongolia, and the second on one of the Russian special stages – hopefully they capture some of the fun we had.
So as we charge headlong into spring, I hope to see you out on the road soon! In the meantime, keep it safe, upright and on the blackstuff.
Pip pip,
Ashton

Roads and Maritime Services is set to launch a newsletter for historic and classic car enthusiasts. Issue number one is due in September, and sign-up is available now.
What a cracking day! A cool start followed by the warmth of Sydney winter and slight whiff of “Eau De EC Rubbish Tip” in everyone’s nostrils meant that the full SMSP track was ready for an onslaught. It’s rare that access is granted to the ‘full’ circuit – with both North and South Circuits combined and the Lotus team were up for it.
Sunday the 18th of August, 2019, brought around 1700 cars, bikes, buses, trucks and a few other wheeled and motored contraptions of more puzzling designation to Sydney Motorsport Park for the CMC’s annual celebration of Sydney’s motoring community. We were there to share the love of Lotus with a Club Lotus Australia display, and we have photos as proof.
Our rotating Tyre Kick & Coffee found us at Kokoda Cafe in Rhodes Park on Sunday the 18th of August, catching up in tranquil surrounds before returning to our regularly scheduled Sunday programming. Peter Walker has very kindly sent through some photos from the day, which you can enjoy below.
Sunday was a busy one, with the 2019 Shannons Sydney Classic also on the go on the other side of the city at Sydney Motorsport Park. Nevertheless, we had a good turnout for the Tyre Kick and did a great job of decorating the car park with Lotuses from throughout the ages.
Thanks to everyone who came along and supported our monthly catch-up, and to Peter Walker for the shots!

Held at The King’s School each year, the Sydney All British Day is a celebration of all things British with wheels and an engine. It will be held in 2019 on Sunday the 15th of September. The event is coming up quickly, and we have plenty of tickets available for the Club Lotus Australia display.
Evan Jones is looking after our display at the event and has plenty of tickets available for you to take part. Access to display your car in the Club Lotus Australia area is by ticket only, and tickets must be organised ahead of time, so please do get in touch soon.
Please contact us via email ([email protected]) if you would like a ticket to take part in the display. All we need is a postal address so that we can send you your ticket, to and a heads-up about the car that you would like to display.
The All British Day is always good fun, attracting an interesting and varied collection of British motoring machines to The Kings School in Parramatta, and putting on a fun festival as well. We put together a great display, and enjoy a relaxed day together exploring all the other marques, having a picnic and socialising. To give you a feel for things you can see what we got up to in 2018 here, and 2017 at this link.
The All British Day is an enjoyable and social day of sharing the love of Lotus with the world, and an important opportunity to promote our club. We hope to see you there!
